Despite the heat and all the dust getting on our equipment Dos Güeros played a spectacular and well received couple of sets at Rumor.

Dos Güeros had their debut at Lazy Lizard to a small but enthusiastic crowd. After a first set of improv, chill house vibes, the crowd picked up in the second set, and we played some Tom Waits and some originals much to the delight of the audience.

Great turnout for some original music, instrumental improvisation and delicious food!

Another beautiful day at Rumor Brewing with 72 people dancing, drinking, eating and having fun!

Fun day gig at Lazy Lizard. Didn’t know any of the people that were there, but the response was great and I got booked for a private party. The Lizard is cool man!

Absolute magical collaboration at the Source. Unfortunately, it was poorly attended as this town would rather see Grateful Dead imposters every weekend.

The new Trail Rider location is awesome! And when you keep the volume under control, there’s plenty of space for people to chat and eat. And the food is great!

Another wonderfully weird day in Madrid and Slim Belly knocked out four hours of tunes and made some new friends!

Big crowd of happy dancers and people enjoying some good food and good company. The Larry Conga Show added a few new tunes and this new lineup packs a punch!

New line up and new songs totally rocked the Lazy Lizard! Every table was full all night and the cheesesteak at the end of the night was amazing!

Nice to play under the big tent at Mine Shaft on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Lots of bikers and lots of blues! Looking forward to returning in May.

First show at the new Trail Rider location was a full house for a Saint Paddy’s Day celebration! Half of the crowd came to see the one man band the other half said they’ll come back next time I’m there! Trail Rider really stepped up and are killing it at this new location.

Big Daddy enlisted Kyle on drums and Scrunchie on guitar. We knocked out a three hour set of Slim Belly tunes, jams and even covered a couple “Dogs On Drugs” songs. Really good crowd despite the wind. Old fans were “blown away” with the addition of scrunchie on guitar and new fans hired us for a private event in June!

First solo show at The Lazy Lizard was so much fun we booked two more! Surprisingly good crowd for an early Saturday show. The food is really excellent there with a lot of families as well as hardcore day drinkers enjoyed the one man show!

Standing room only at the Magic Cello concert! Joined by Scrunchie on guitar, Kevin warmed up the crowd before a mesmerizing performance by Raynovich. The three of us collaborated on two improvised pieces to close out the show with a bang!

Slim Belly had a wonderful afternoon at Mineshaft Cantina on Sunday. Lots of new faces and enthusiastic patrons made the four hours just fly by!

A Winter Solstice show in 60 degree weather on the patio! Great crowd from 3-4:45 then the sun and temperature plummeted! Planning on more winter shows on the enclosed patio!

Magical night of interactive music, poetry and artists at The Hall. Looking forward to an encore performance this Spring.

Always fun at Trail Rider on a Tuesday as they feature such diverse and wonderful performers. Looking forward to one more show there before the end of the year!

Filling in for a cancellation. Slim Belly Blues had a fabulous night at Mineshaft Tavern. The enthusiastic crowd even paid attention during game seven of the World Series!

Beautiful sunny day in the East Mountains as Kevin packed the place for one of the last patio shows of the year. With Special guest Scrunchie on guitar, the jams and the funny songs were flowing, and even when it got cold people called out for several encores!

The crowds continue to get bigger for The Larry Conga Show! All the tables were full and the dance floor was hopping. Larry is an East Mountain local treasure and we are so happy to be performing with him!

Disciples Of The Backbeat filled in for DOD for this live portrait performance. The weather held out just long enough for this hour and a half show and we had to call it a night. Stay tuned for DOD collaborating with Disciples Of The Backbeat for another painting performance in December.

Dogs On Drugs had a wonderful return to The Hall with some new songs, new faces and lots of energy in the room! Looking forward to a return engagement before the end of the year.

What a blast at Lazy Lizard with The Larry Conga Show! Cool jams, lots of dancing and several encores. It just keeps getting better!

Nice elevated porch to play on overlooking a spacious patio makes Calavida Cantina a gem of a place for the Corrales community. Slim Belly played to a small but enthusiastic crowd and might return before the year ends.

Slim Belly started the night playing to a handful of people but Lazy Lizard soon was packed inside and out. Multiple encores, fanatical dancing and generous tips made this a very special Friday in the East Mountains!

Voodoo Girl is one hip joint and Slim Belly is a great fit for this place! Drawing our fans and making new friends, Slim Belly had a steady crowd of people and we look forward to returning for more Pies and Pints!

Dogs On Drugs performed to a small but enthusiastic crowd at The Hall on Friday. DOD will be playing a private event in July and taking a little time off for some songwriting and recording.

Thrown together just 10 days ago without any rehearsals or a plan, One Set Steinbergs already have two gigs under their belt! What was supposed to be a one off To help Jay & Paula Steinberg from Birdland, just might turn into a little bit more! Beautiful, crowded friendly faces and Jay & Paula sold a bunch of merchandise. The Hall rocks!

After 30 years of Birdland The Hippie Store, Jay & Paula Steinberg have decided to close up the shop. For this one time special occasion, I put together an All-Star group of local musicians and named it One Set Steinbergs. The result was an overwhelmingly huge turnout, and an incredibly beautiful day of organized chaos featuring lots of guests and the Steinbergs sold tons of merchandise!

Booked only a few days before the show, Dogs On Drugs were able to bring about 20 people out to Voodoo Girl Pizza & Pints. Halfway through the night a lot more people showed up and we were overwhelmed at how enthusiastic the new people were to our original music! We will be heading back there – The food is excellent!

Beautiful outdoor beer garden setting For the 10 Year Anniversary of Bathtub Row Brewing in Los Alamos. Shady Groove kicked off the festivities with an early 1 PM set to an enthusiastic crowd that sang along to most of the tunes! Shady Groove is starting to hit on all cylinders and we are looking forward to our upcoming show at Fusion.

Slim Belly Blues Band had another full house for the return at The Lazy Lizard. The staff here is great, and the fans are very supportive. Keep your eye out for Slim Belly playing at Lazy Lizard every couple of months!

Booked by popular demand, Dogs On Drugs, had their first outdoor show at Rumor Brewing. Although most of our loyal fans (The Dog Pound) had tickets for the crawdad festival, DOD made a bunch of new friends with a large crowd and steady flow of people all day!

Debut at Voodoo Girl was so successful they’ve already booked Slim Belly for next month! As usual, The Belly had friendly familiar faces combined with a bunch of new fans. Looking forward to more good times at Voodoo Girl Pizza & Pints!

Dogs On Drugs pulled off a three hour set with a one hour encore at The Hall. Quote from Keith Langerman – well known archiver of all music coming through ‘Burque: ”I was just thinking that in a short period of time Dogs On Drugs have leapfrogged into being one of my favorite bands doing all originals in the city. That speaks volumes brother!

The 25th anniversary of the Pajarito Environmental Education Center was celebrated with a tremendous Earth Day event. After our ribbon-cutting at 10am RecycleMan started early and kept everyone laughing and engaged right up until 2pm. Looking forward to this event again next year!

With Earth Day landing on a Tuesday -the night Trail Rider Pizza does music- It was a no-brainer to have RecycleMan and Big Daddy collaborating! It was another nonstop 2 1/2 hour set With RecycleMan laying down the loops and Big Daddy playing originals and jams over the top. About a dozen friends came out to support but almost every table was full throughout the evening and new fans were made!

The Disciples Of The Backbeat performance was rained out on Saturday, but Kevin went out solo on Sunday. Packing a bunch of Drums and Percussion, Birdland had a nice street jam going With all ages of people and generated some 420 business!

For their return to The Hall, Dogs On Drugs brought seven new songs to the mix and played a three hour set to a very sweaty and appreciative crowd. The reviews are pouring in and DOD is already being touted as the most creative and original band on the scene; Fans of cover songs need not apply!

For their debut show at Lazy Lizard, Slim Belly played to a packed and rowdy house. Familiar faces danced and cheered, but more than half of the bar were new to Slim Belly but regular Lazy Lizard patrons. The generous tips made this an East Mountain venue that Slim Belly will play more regularly in the future!

The temperature hit 54° and the wind died down just as Big Daddy took the stage to kick off the outdoor patio season! A wonderful group of friends attended the show and Kevin played for three hours without stopping!

For their return to The Mine Shaft, Slim Belly played for four hours with one short break to a packed and enthusiastic audience! Looking forward to a return this summer out on the patio.

February 23rd @ The Hall

On Sunday, Dogs On Drugs drew the biggest crowd that The Hall has had so far this year. Tremendous response and support from the crowd that was half friends and half future friends of DOD. The owner and staff were so pleased that DOD will be back already on March 7th for a free Friday show!

So much love in the house for Chuck’s 60th Birthday Bash at Bossfight! Brewing Company! Carli‘s Angels delivered one long powerhouse set and featured a bunch of guest appearances Including Rachel Ross and Colleen Elvidge.

Kevin’s return to Trail Rider pizza was a blast! The whole crowd was there to see the loop show! Friendly faces, great food and drink, and Kevin knocked out a solid two hour set of an eclectic music. I think he’ll be back there with recycle man for Earth Day.

With less than a week to promote the show, the Disciples had an excellent crowd – despite football! PW Covington added some beat poetry and the Disciples Of The Backbeat danced around his words. More dates to come!

With four bands on the bill, Kevin played in between each group with his own side set up. An eclectic mix of bands enabled Kevin to perform original Country, Trip Hop, Celtic and some Tom Waits to an enthusiastic and diverse crowd.

The debut of Dogs On Drugs at Bossfight! Brewing Company couldn’t have gone better! A packed house with friends and fans howling like dogs after each song! We are sad to learn that Bossfight! is closing down, but we were happy to have the opportunity to be one of the big events there and packed the place with people. Next up is the hash hole and the buzz is already happening!

It was a cold start to the new year but the sun came out just in time, the propane heaters were cranking and so was Slim Belly! It was so nice to start off the year with a bunch of happy, smiling faces, dancing, and bopping to the Belly!

Birdland Anniversary quote from the owner Jay: WHAT CAN I SAY! Kevin Kinane and Marion there are no words to thank you enough for what you did for Birdland The Hippie Store. The day was absolutely beautiful! Kevin and his percussion mates had people hanging AND BUYING all day! I won’t say HERE’S TO 30 MORE. By then I would be the oldest hippie around!

Pink Freud: Dank Side Of The Moon was such a blast! With Dub vocals by Elijah, extra guitar from Tim Gallegos and yours truly on percussion, The Dank Side set was a sticky success!

The second annual The Next Waltz celebration included 21 local musicians and did not disappoint! The flow of the concert was only outmatched by the flow of the sell out crowd and overflowing bins for our food drive. It was one of those nights that took a day or two to process all of the magic, can’t wait for next year!

Slim Belly played a rare 2-4 Saturday show at Marble Heights to a packed house. After our 2hour+ set, the place emptied and the staff thanked us for bringing so many people out. We really enjoy playing all three marble locations and hoping their live music continues in 2025!

Big Daddy opened the patio season at rumor last spring and closed the season on Sunday. The weather cooperated just in time and Big Daddy played a two and a half hour set to a nice crowd of loyal fans and met some new friends.

Despite a rainy Day in Madrid, Slim Belly Blues Band played to an enthusiastic mixed crowd of locals and tourists in the main dining room. Playing at a lower volume was no problem and allowed for an even more dynamic show!

Kevin’s debut in NY City featured loops made from found objects, electric concert ukulele, harmonica and a mix of old and new originals. Unique, inventive and highly entertaining were some of the reactions from the audience. After his set, Kevin jumped on drums for a high powered set by the E. James Smith Band.

The wine festival at Balloon Fiesta Park was a blast! Carli’s Angels went on after Kookie Jones and The Groove Maneuvers and kept the dancing under the big tent right up until the last note from Carli’s Saxophone!

Kandy and Friends was such a big success and so much fun, we decided to make it a regular thing! Keep your eyes out for a November night of acoustic old timey fun – maybe with a new name!

Hot and humid on the Boxing Bear patio but that didn’t stop a nice crowd of people from dancing and groooving to The Sounds of Slim Belly. Looking forward to coming back in the fall!

Another beautiful Sunday in the East mountains with Big Daddy rocking Rumor Brewing. The new Ukulele was a hit and the jams were really flowing – as were the beers!

The Saturday songwriter showcase at canteen was a big success and having my friends Leigh and Kenny play a couple of sets kept the good vibes and great music flowing all afternoon!

Carli’s Angels brought the improvisation and funk/worldbeat originals to The Hall on Sunday. This was the perfect venue to really stretch and take Carli‘s Angels into musical landscapes they previously have not ventured into – In the crowd LOVED it! Lots of fun!

For over twenty years RecycleMan and DrumFest have performed at all of the Summerfest events and this year was another great season. Each event featured different instruments (drums w/sticks, Recycle Machine, buckets w/sticks and hand drums). See ya next year!

Slim Belly returned to Marble Westside and knocked out a tight two hour set. Made new friends and fans and The Staff couldn’t have been friendlier and happier with our performance. Hoping to come back before the end of the year!

Garden Music at The BioPark featured so many great local acts again this year and it was so much fun bringing out instruments for everyone to play before the music started. Each event featured a different set up: Percussion, Bucket Jam, Tom Toms and RecycleMan – so repeat kids (young and old) got to jam with me as the opening act!

Beautiful day in the mountains with old and new friends! A new crew that stayed until the end are eager to bring their friends when Big Daddy returns to Rumor in two weeks. With the weather being more mild and almost ten degrees cooler than in town, it’s the perfect time to enjoy Rumor’s comfortable outside area with hiking trails in the back!

Slim Belly with Zac on keys knocked it out of the park at Hootie’s famous birthday bash! Lots of beautiful people and jams until the lightning hit and we stopped a little early. Fun fun fun!

Big Daddy’s last show at Albuquerque Distilling was a full house! It’s been a great monthly run but they are discontinuing music for a while. Love these people and this place; maybe will be back next year!

Such a pleasure to perform in Fort Sumner for The Library Summer Reading Program! RecycleMan had a small but enthusiastic audience and they are bringing him back next year for the DrumFest program!

Slim Belly took their act up to Santa Fe and got to see some old friends and make some new fans. Overcoming a difficult load in and no sound man, The Belly ripped and roared through a high energy, well received set of psychedelic blues and originals!

Freedom Fourth was a hot one this year! Brought out 80 buckets for huge drum jams and people had a blast. Good bands too. Looking forward to next year!

The Slim Belly debut at Rio Bravo was a smashing success! Made lots of new fans and the venue wants us for a festival. Carli and Doug added so much on Saxophone, Flugelhown and keys and Brian Oatrum joined on guitar for the last set. A great day of music and friends!

You had to see RecycleMan laying down the loops to believe he was using recycled objects! This combination of Big Daddy with RecycleMan is definitely going to be a regular thing. Looking forward to next Albuquerque Distilling appearance July 26th!

Another wonderful season with RecycleMan at the library summer reading programs. These events are so important to keep kids reading during the summer and it’s a joy to come back each year. Next year will be “Drums Around the World” with Kevin Kinane – see ya then!

The Hall continues to grow as an outlet for original music and Slim Belly let their freak flag fly on Sunday! Lots of improvised jams mixed with blues – Carli and Doug on horns were spectacular!

An amazing day of music for Canteen’s 30th anniversary started with Le Chat Lunatic and ended with a high powered set of world beat and funk by Carli’s Angels. Shelly Ley and Kandy Ivy made it more special bringing their vocal power to the mix. Squash Blossom Boys and Doso Dirtbags (from Riudoso) played smoking sets in the midday heat. A great day was had by all!

It takes two people to fill in for one great man! With Kyle out of town, Slim Belly Blues recruited Jay Payette on drums and Loco Lopez on percussion and rocked Marble Heights on Friday. Fun night with a great turnout but we are looking forward to the return of Kyle for next week!

Boxing Bear at Firestone has live music only on Fridays from 6-9 and they have a cool little patio facing the sunset. Locals from that area come out on Fridays and stay if they like the band. Slim Belly kept the crowd there up until our last note and booked a return engagement for August!

Such a friendly vibe at Casa San Ysidro! Weaving, Native Dancing, crafts, bread making, blacksmith AND RecycleMan! An unlikely fit for this event, RecycleMan has become a staple attraction for ten years now!

Albuquerque Distilling continues to pick up steam for Big Daddy’s monthly residence. The largest crowd yet almost doubled when Kaleidoscope finished their early set at The Lobo and a crew of “Daddy Heads” streamed into the distillery at 7:45. Love this place!

Start Making Sense played a high energy dance set at the Lobo on Friday that had everyone out of their seats. Pink Freud followed with an epic set of Pink Floyd music and a light show that blew the place away!

What a groovy Monday at Trail Rider Pizza! RecycleMan mesmerized to standing room only crowd with his loops using recycled objects and Big Daddy threw jams and originals on top for a truly unique performance. Looking forward to a monthly Monday at this wonderful East Mountain eatery!

420 Festival was a blast! Slim Belly threw a powerhouse 90 minute set before One More Silver Dollar tore the roof off of the joint with their tribute to Dickie Betts. Heavy on psychedelic jams mixed with traditional blues, Slim Belly really lit it up and set the sparks flying!

Tenth year that RecycleMan has participated in The Earth Day celebration at PEEC and this was the best yet! A non stop stream of kids of all ages made music with RecycleMan and made this event a big success!

Big Daddy’s monthly residence at Albuquerque Distilling continues to pick up steam. People really dig the vibe there and they don’t mind when Daddy gets Wacky. Looking forward to playing there again May 17!

Slim Belly was looking forward to their first patio show at Mine Shaft Tavern, but due to wind we played to a packed and enthusiastic tourist crowd in the big room. The staff was very happy with our volume and repertoire and we’re looking forward to our next trip to Madrid, NM.

Let It Grow threw a wonderful farewell to Tortuga Gallery performance space last Friday. We had quite a run of house parties at this wonderful location but the business and ownership has changed. Thanks to Pax and Jill and the Grateful Dead community for some very special nights.

Another successful night for Slim Belly meeting new people up in Corrales. Boxing Bear only has music on Fridays and they draw a nice, appreciative crowd. Award winning brews and super friendly staff doesn’t hurt either! Looking forward to playing their Firestone location in May.

Bunch of new Slim Belly fans after our first Thursday night show at Canteen Brewhouse! Besides a decent draw and Canteen regulars, A gathering of 30 trial lawyers met up at Canteen and stayed almost all night eager to ask about The Chapman Stick and Ken’s Firebird Guitar on our breaks. They loved our take on Tom Waits tunes too!

Big Daddy has kicked off the patio season at Rumor every year on St Paddy’s Day – except this year! Due to snow, Kevin set up inside and played a two hour set to an enthusiastic crowd that braved the weather. He’ll be back to play outside this summer.

Very warm reception from a whole new Westside crowd at Marble Brewery West! Friendly staff, kids, dogs out on the patio – definitely will be back again this summer!

The East Mountain crowd filled up The Canteen on a school night as Blue Moon and Big Daddy traded sets for a night of original music. Dusting off some oldies and debuting two new ones (including “Other People’s Blues” written that same day) Big Daddy was light on the leads and heavy on the words and had the crowd laughing and engaged every second of the night.

Third time through Albuquerque Distilling and Big Daddy doubled his audience each visit. This place has great vibe, great drinks and the owners are way cool! Big Daddy will be back on April 12th and once a month through the year.

Start Making Sense performed a rousing two sets of Talking Heads music to a packed crowd at the launch pad last night! It’ll be a few months until this supergroup gets together again and burns down the house so keep an eye out!

The Hall has become the place to catch great music, play pool, smoke tuff, bring a cooler, shop for goodies and never pay a cover! Slim Belly’s debut with Carli and Doug on horns was a big hit with this eclectic crowd and we will happily be heading back there again soon. Albuquerque is cool man!

Let It Grow continues to melt minds and sell out their semi regular shows at the intimate Tortuga Art Gallery. A highlight was when Kevin stepped out front and Dave took over on drums for a rousing and rarely played “Love Light”, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!

Slim Belly Blues duo had little kids dancing in the isles and the adults cheering after each song at The Mineshaft Cantina. A patron that stayed all afternoon commented: “You guys sounded at times like the Violent Femmes being fronted by Jim Morrison – and I mean that as a huge compliment! Excellent variety and ability to read the crowd”.

SBBB and friends took over Kilt Check Brewery for a night of musical collaboration with special guests Carli’s Angels, One More Silver Phil and Tony Wilson. It was an unforgettable night of originals, blues and jams!

So rewarding doing RecycleMan Music with these east mountain kids! Rt 66 Arts Alliance fills a much needed gap in art and music and will host a full week this summer July 8-12.
